NIMIS, Ladonia – Following weeks of precarious leaning, one of the outer towers at Nimis has collapsed. The incident occurred over the weekend of 14/15 July, following significant damage to the tower’s foundation caused by a large boulder that fell from the nearby cliffs during heavy rains a few weeks ago.
The initial damage to the tower’s footing led to a pronounced lean, prompting immediate efforts to reinforce the foundation by the Minister of Art and Jump and his assistant Noah. Despite their efforts over the past three weeks, the structural integrity could not be maintained, leading to the tower’s eventual collapse.
“The story so far: a boulder from the cliffs fell down and hit the towers foundation and making the tower lean hard and twist around it’s vertical axel. We have been there 2-3 times to start with supporting maintenance. We managed to stop the fall, no more loud cracks. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of rain the last weeks and we suspect that in combination with gusts of winds brought the tower down. (I don’t remember the name of the tower, but it is the one with a gangway over to the cliffside),” explained Fredrik Larsson, the Minister of Art and Jump and in charge of maintenance at Nimis.
Fishermen reported the collapse early on Sunday, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The Ministers Who Maintain are already developing plans to rebuild the tower using materials salvaged from the fallen structure. This swift response aims to preserve the artistic and cultural significance of Nimis, a cherished landmark in Ladonia.
Ladonian officials have assured the public that Nimis remains accessible to visitors, although they strongly advise exercising caution around the collapsed areas. “Safety is our top priority,” stated a representative from the Home Office. “We are committed to restoring Nimis while ensuring it remains a relatively safe site for all visitors.”
As the rebuilding efforts commence, the collapse serves as a reminder of the delicate balance between nature and the remarkable constructions of Nimis. The dedication of Ladonian officials to restore and maintain this landmark underscores its importance to the nation’s cultural heritage.
Further updates will be provided as the rebuilding efforts progress. Visitors are encouraged to stay informed about safety guidelines and respect any restricted areas around the collapse site.
