Downloadable GPS Trail Maps Guide the Way to Ladonia

Wotan City, LADONIA — Visitors to Ladonia can now confidently find their way to Nimis and Arx thanks to newly released downloadable GPS trail files provided by the Ladonian government. The files are available in both GPX and KML formats and can be used with most modern hiking apps and navigation tools.

The route begins at the Himmelstorp parking area and follows the established hiking path through the Kullaberg nature reserve to the heart of Ladonia, a journey of approximately 1.8 miles (2.9 km) (each way, starting from the parking lot). The hike includes an elevation gain of around 550 feet (170 meters) and typically takes between 1 to 1.5 hours to complete in each direction.

“This is a meaningful step forward in accessibility,” said the Queen. “While the yellow ‘N’ markings and local knowledge have always guided the adventurous, they are easy to miss and can be confusing for those who are used to more ‘official’ signage. These GPS files make it much easier for first-time visitors to safely find their way — especially those arriving from abroad.”

The terrain to Ladonia can be steep and uneven in places, especially as hikers approach the coastline and descend toward Nimis. The trail is considered moderate to difficult, and sturdy footwear is recommended.

For years, Ladonian volunteers have maintained unofficial trail markers to help visitors navigate the path. However, many of these signs are routinely removed by local authorities.

“We’re constantly redirecting lost hikers because the land council keeps tearing down our signs,” said Fredrik Larsson, the Minister of Art and Jump, who also serves as the primary caretaker of Nimis. “With these GPS files, we can finally offer a reliable way to reach Ladonia — even when our signs disappear overnight.”

The downloadable files are compatible with popular platforms like AllTrails, Gaia GPS, Komoot, and Garmin devices, as well as Google Earth for desktop planning. If you do not know how to use the files once you have downloaded them, you can always ask ChatGPT to help you use them. The files are available now on the official Ladonia website at www.ladonia.org/about/maps-and-landscape/.
