DALLAS, Texas — The documentary Micronations, which features the Royal Republic of Ladonia among several micronations and other alternate polities from around the world, has been officially selected for screening at the 15th Oak Cliff Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.
Directed by Joe Kowalski, Micronations features HM Carolyn I, Queen of Ladonia, alongside HRH Travis (McHenry), Grand Duke of Westarctica, HRH Prince Phil (Pillin) of Pibocip, HM King Ernest Emmanuel of Amethonia, President Kevin Baugh of Molossia, and other figures from the world of micronations and alternate polities.
The film will be screened on Sunday, 2 August 2026, as part of the festival’s four-day programme celebrating independent cinema. The Oak Cliff Film Festival, now in its fifteenth edition, is recognized as one of Texas’ leading independent film festivals and showcases innovative narrative and documentary filmmaking from around the world.
Micronations was filmed over several years and includes footage captured in Ladonia at Nimis, as well as scenes from MicroCon 2023, which was hosted by Ladonia in the United States and co-hosted by Ladonia and Flandrensis in the European Union. The EU gathering marked the first MicroCon held outside the United States, while the US edition was the largest to date and included festivities at the Queen’s residence. The documentary explores the remarkable diversity of the micronation movement while highlighting the communities, traditions, and individuals who bring these unique nations to life.
The screening marks another significant milestone for the documentary following its recent world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it introduced audiences to the fascinating world of micronations and featured Ladonia’s unique artistic and cultural heritage.
